West Ham United Football Club (WHUFC) is based in Upton Park, London Borough of Newham in East London. They play their games at the Boleyn Ground stadium and have done since 1904.

West Ham were originally founded as Thames Ironworks F.C. in 1895. Then then later reformed as West Ham United in 1900. They joined the Football League in 1919, but before this they competed in the Southern League and Western League. West Ham United had their first top flight season in 1923 and they managed to get to the first FA Cup Final to be held at Wembley in the same year, unfortunately losing to Bolton Wanderers. West Ham United have gone one step further on three occassions, winning the FA Cup in 1964, 1975 and 1980. WHUFC were also runners up in 2006.

West Ham won the European Cup Winners Cup in 1965 and the Intertoto Cup in 1999. Their players were arguably the main factor behind England’s World Cup triumph 1996. England’s captain at the was West Ham’s Bobby Moore, and both goalscorers were Geoff Hurst and Martin Peters. WHUFC’s best final league position was third place in 1985–86, in the old First Division.
